Billy Mick set to release all new electro-pop single ‘Leveling Up’!

Emily Lindsell

Billy Mick is preparing for the release of the title-track single from his upcoming album Leveling Up!

The track, which Billy describes as synth-pop with a modern 80’s twist, showcases his slightly edgier and rockier vocals alongside a high-energy beat – something that isn’t common within usual electro-pop. ‘Leveling Up’ has a strong tempo and uplifting beat which, when paired with Billy’s distinct vocals, results in an impossibly catchy track that’ll leave you with the urge to dance every minute of the day!

The lyrics themselves talk of how things will always get better and there will always be something for you to strive towards in life – there will always be a way for you to level up and go even higher. The track radiates positivity both through its sound and its lyrics, sending an empowering message out to society that no matter what you’re going through, things will level up and improve, and you won’t be in this position forever. That message is important, especially in today’s day and age as the majority of the world is currently suffering through the pandemic, so people need to hear the inspiring message that ‘Leveling Up’ delivers – we won’t be in this situation forever, and sometime in the near future we will be leveling up into a more positive environment!

‘Leveling Up’ will be hitting streaming platforms on April 30th, so be sure to keep an eye out if you’re looking for an addictive track that’ll raise your mood and leave you wanting more, more, more! In the meantime if you’re looking for a taster of what’s to come, check out Billy’s track ‘The Tourist’, which tells a tale of a time where he felt like an alien within his own home after experiencing the time of his life in a completely different country. ‘The Tourist’, another track with an air of positivity, talks of how Billy felt true acceptance somewhere so far away from home – somewhere he discovered whilst being a tourist himself!

Gorgon City inspired songwriter ready for the challenges ahead

Songwriter Joel Rothwell might not be a household name just yet, but it seems likely that there’s every chance he soon will be. The pedigree of young musicians being elevated from the streets into stardom is a bar that is ever raising. For some, however, the transition seems easier than for others. With a stylishly crafted formula of honest story-telling accompanying his electro-pop sound, single ‘Just Don’t Know’ is the first of 4 inspired songs recorded with Brighton producer Toby Scott – which tells the story of a chance encounter, forbidden attraction and the inherent dilemma faced from within.

While these days, rubbing shoulders with well-known faces at events such as Cannes Film Festival may be commonplace, Bury-born Joel Rothwell’s down-to-earth nature and clean-cut image has stemmed from the family around him nurturing his long-harnessed dream to become a chart-topping success. Joel considers his sound to be, in essence, guitar-driven pop, blended with the house/electro sounds taken from the likes of Gorgon City or Disciples. Lyrically tight, there are no throwaway lines on display here, and he accredits inspiration to the likes of Linkin Park and Bring Me the Horizon for that.

While recording and preparing to release his debut album under the Steelworks Studio label, under the support of songwriter and producer Eliot Kennedy (famed for working with the likes of the Spice Girls, Bryan Adams, Lulu and Take That), led to Joel taking part in his biggest gig to date. The Vulcan Experience aircraft hanger at Robin Hood airport in Doncaster was host to a sell-out charity event that raised over £65,000 for Help for Heroes, in which he shared the stage in following none other than Gary Barlow.
