Winchester 7 & The Runners release new single ‘When the World Stops Spinning’

Emily Lindsell

Winchester 7 & The Runners have recently released new single When The World Stops Spinning from recent EP Argos Holiday. The EP features seven tracks from Win, alongside a cover of Bowie’s track Modern Love and a Stuart Epp’s remix.

The tracks each hold their own individuality, however they all have one common factor – the ukulele. The electric ukulele features heavily on each tune, alongside the presence of drums played by Jack Kane and bass played by Phil Voorhees, who help show a cool new twist on track instrumentals. The ukulele offers a unique sound, and displays how much Win likes to work outside of the box – something that’s also demonstrated by his orchestration of his one-man band.

The fact that Winchester 7 & The Runners is actually run by one person is extremely impressive, considering that the production and overall sound of his music has the gusto of a band of 7. In fact, it’s theorised that Jack Kane and Phil Voorhees are simply Win in disguise – although nothing’s been confirmed just yet!

Win takes inspiration from musical legend Paul McCartney, who also became a one-man-band for his first three albums. His creativity, mixed with his passion for music and appreciation of different musical approaches, has all contributed to the creation of a powerful psychedelic rock EP that, as I commented earlier, will leave you unable to believe it’s all put together by one man!

When the World Keeps Spinning will resonate with you from the sheer level of talent showcased, with one man covering everything from the vocals to every last instrumental used in production. The results will blow you away!

You can listen to the new single here.

InHibit releases all new EP ‘Blinded’

Emily Lindsell

After much anticipation and hard work, InHibit has finally released his debut EP Blinded!

‘Shame On Humans’, which has already achieved great success with its official music video, has accumulated over half a million views in less than two weeks. It paints the perfect picture for the rest of the EPs style; InHibit states that each of his songs have a big piece of him in them lyrically and sonically. He talks of how he puts his thoughts and his mind into his music, which is something that is portrayed clearly throughout his tracks that have an aura of real rawness and honesty.

InHibit’s compositions follow an unconventional path, with the artist mixing his inspirations from a young age with his current personal intricate style. His music takes on an alternative rock venture, featuring a heavy presence of guitars and a prominent display of drums. This, paired with his intense vocals, creates the perfect alt-rock masterpiece, with his influences playing a part in bending his style into something so unique. Industry mainstays such as Foo Fighters can be picked up on occasionally throughout the EP, showing how in touch he can be with his inspirations, channeling them in a way to make his sound his own – something that is hard to come by.

The theme of the EP is simply InHibit’s own views and values, portrayed through his music in a way that can spark thought-provoking conversation amongst his audience. He challenges the norm and how the world is viewed with his own ideas and thoughts, aiming to cause some minor controversy with his lyrics and statements. This is a huge part of how InHibit shows his personality through the music he creates, with other ways being his previously mentioned unique style and individual sound. Showcasing personality and real emotions is the perfect product of realness, and that’s exactly what Blinded is: a real depiction of Inhibit.

You can listen to Blinded for yourself here.

Pentral release mesmerising new music video for ‘All My Wounds’

Emily Lindsell

Following on from their recent success of single ‘Silent Trees’, which was highly praised from both Prog and New Noise, Pentral have unleashed their newest track All My Wounds.

The music video, released Friday, March 26th, is set as a live performance – something not many of us have had the chance to experience recently. The video transports you back to the bliss of life pre-covid, where we could attend gigs and witness the magic of live music whenever we pleased.

Seeing the trio up on stage, illuminated by the lights and delivering a performance with such intensity that you can’t look away, it almost feels as though you’re in the venue with them experiencing the show firsthand. It brings a sense of nostalgia, making you crave for the day we can finally get back to watching good, live music unfold before our eyes.

The track itself is the perfect one to accompany that nostalgia, as its lyrics and general sound embody such a positive message. The powerful bass, guitar and drums, paired with it’s empowering lyrics, makes it the ideal song to scream along to at your first live gig post-coronavirus. The album that the song originates from was completely recorded and produced throughout the pandemic, so Pentral are just as eager as us for them to get on stage and sing their beliefs to the world, which is hopefully something that can occur within the near future!

‘All My Wounds’, which is track 2 from their upcoming album, is one of many songs produced by the band that incorporates sounds and styles from their cultural background into their release. Pentral are driven on expressing their values through their music whilst also staying true to themselves and their culture, talking on important topics such as racism and discrimination through their lyrics. The band consistently stand up for what they believe in and are keen to make change in the world through the power of their music and the influence it can bring.

Kavanagh release guitar-heavy single ‘Citizen 202’

Emily Lindsell

Kavanagh, a 5 piece alternative rock band from Brighton, are set to release their upcoming single on March 26th 2021.

Although the track is only 2 minutes long, it tells you everything you need to know about the band and their style. Citizen 202 is an intense 2 minutes of fast-paced, guitar-heavy music, that expresses what it’s like to take a step back and consider our minor insignificancy compared to the vastness of the universe around us. The lyrics touch upon what it’s like to let yourself be part of the bigger picture rather than just part of humanity and our world, and how each of us are simply just specs within a huge creation!

“Citizen 202 is about escaping the idiosyncrasies of humanity and being a member of the universe instead, simply a part of creation. more than a human” – Kavanagh.

Citizen 202 is set to feature in an out-of-this-world themed movie, Vegan Vampires from Zorg (which also features members of The Sex Pistols and New York Dolls). The sound and meaning of the song slot right in to the plot of the movie, with both appearing to be very futuristic and unique, to say the least.

The single is the start of a new era for Kavanagh as they’re preparing to take on a new adventure with their music, going along with influences of 90’s alternative rock. They started this adventure off on the right foot, having the support of esteemed producer Mike Bennett, who worked with them on producing this track. The band are expected to release plenty more music this year that will pathe the way for their future sounds and releases, showing exactly what Kavanagh have to offer!

You can hear their exhilarating track for yourself on March 26th!

UK Metal Merger release ‘In Soltitude’ in support of Live Music

Emily Lindsell

A collection of some of the most recognised and appreciated rock and metal stars within the industry are coming together in support of live music – releasing a single that will aid those affected by the loss of work within live music due to COVID-19.

This project, which was created and progressed through the multiple lock-downs over the last year, will raise funds to help out those in need who have been negatively impacted from the shutdown of live music. From sound engineers to venue staff, the list of individuals and job roles supported by this project is practically endless, as the live show industry is one of those worst affected by the pandemic. ‘In Soltitude’ will take us one step closer to maintaining the survival of the live event industry, which is essential for all lovers of music, no matter what your favourite artist or genre is.

‘In Soltitude’, which was cut down from 300 hours of footage to just 12 and a half minutes, is a powerful track that holds all the emotion that has stemmed from the pandemic, putting everyone’s frustration and vulnerability into one track designed to keep a dying industry alive.

UK Metal Merger are asking for anyone who is able to donate to contribute to the project, in order to keep live music stable and running. The loss of the live music industry would be a catastrophic loss of talent, skill and knowledge, and would leave so many without a sector of work. ‘In Soltitude’ can help to make the change we need and offer vital support to keep as many people as possible in work.

You can support their project here.

With their multi-instrumental talents, the duo have pieced together a debut album that has the sound and atmosphere of a band with many more, showcasing powerful choruses and impressive instrumentals.

Their first lead single of the album ‘It’s Alright’, which was released January 15th, touches upon topics that can be related to the pandemic, as it brings the positive theme of “everything will be okay in the end” – which is just the type of thing we need to get us through the current lockdown! Craig, 1/2 of der Mist, says his favourite part of the creative process was “trying to channel his inner 80’s child”; he goes on to say they were aiming for something new and fresh, yet with that nostalgic feeling, which is definitely something that was achieved with the 12 track album.

der Mist brings us the 80’s inspired electro-rock album that we’ve been missing over the last few decades, picking up on old school inspirations whilst making a sound that is so distinct to themselves and their own style.

Throughout the creation of their album, they released regular content detailing their experiences and the musical processes behind them piecing the album together, being completely transparent about their style of music and the type of people they are – which is something seen as rare within the industry. Rock powerhouses In Signs release punchy new single ‘Knock Knock’

Based in Kyiv, Ukraine, the three-pieced ‘In Signs’ create a massive sound beyond their numbers that builds throughout their tracks into crescendos of immense rock.

Their new single ‘Knock Knock’, now accompanied by a new music video, features an intriguing juxtaposition between its gentle beat and raspy rock vocals. Speaking on his hopes for their music, frontman Arsen explained:

It’s so important to be true with people who listen to your music a this is our main goal. There are a lot of artists nowadays but not all of them are doing art. We want to prove that music is not about money, it’s about the passion of your life. I’m a closed person and making music and writing lyrics is a perfect way for me to communicate with people...

..I become a songwriter by chance. I didn’t want to be a musician, it just came up after my first tattoo which is Metallica’s song title ‘Nothing Else Matters’. It such a great pleasure to play live some songs which I created from the very beginning. There are a lot of ways to create music but all our songs start from an acoustic guitar and vocals. ”

The official video for AC/DC’s ‘Shot In The Dark’ has arrived

As reported by NME, AC/DC have revealed the official video for their comeback single ‘Shot In The Dark’.

Original Article: https://www.nme.com/news/music/the-official-video-for-ac-dcs-shot-in-the-dark-has-arrived-2798808

The first single from the re-united band’s much anticipated seventeenth album ‘Power Up’ arrived at the beginning of this month. ‘Shot In The Dark’ is the rock veterans’ first new material since 2014’s ‘Rock Or Bust’ LP.

You can take a look at the visuals, which features the band performing live and were shot by longtime AC/DC video director David Mallet.

Describing ‘Shot In The Dark’, guitarist Angus Young told NME: “It’s a strong single from a powerful rock album. You’ll be able to hear it and know straight away that it’s AC/DC. That’s what we’ve always strived for.”

The Australian rock veterans’s new album is out on November 13. It sees frontman Brian Johnson returning to the group after Axl Rose’s stint as singer, with drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams also returning to the fold.

Last week, meanwhile, AC/DC shared a new online program which allows users to display their initials in the style of the band’s iconic lightning bolt logo.

Angus Young has also confirmed that the album does not feature contributions from his brother and the band’s original rhythm guitarist Malcolm, who died in 2017, despite it featuring a number of his “ideas”.

Young said: “I know a lot of people have been saying: did Malcolm actually play, is it his instrument on the new album? I chose not to do that because I felt Malcolm himself wouldn’t like me trying to splice his guitar work.”

Guitar God Tod Almond releases highly anticipated album ‘If Only You Could See’

The wait is finally over, Tod Almond’s much anticipated album ‘If Only You Could See’ was released just yesterday (October 2nd) and is now available for you to listen on Soundcloud and Spotify.

Sticking to the mantra of “do what makes you happy!”, Tod is doing just that by working as a guitar teacher by day and then showing his own skills onstage by night. He stuck to his word when leaving his band after several frustrating experiences, choosing instead to follow his own path as a solo artist and develop himself into a versatile one-man band.

‘If Only You Could See’ is a collection of tracks exploring Tod’s emotional journey through life and acts as a testament to his children, who he hopes to make proud.

“My children keep asking me, ‘When will you be on Spotify?’ I said, ‘It won’t be long’. They just want me to be something. I really want them to hear, see and feel my happiness”
