Billy Mick set to release all new electro-pop single ‘Leveling Up’!

Emily Lindsell

Billy Mick is preparing for the release of the title-track single from his upcoming album Leveling Up!

The track, which Billy describes as synth-pop with a modern 80’s twist, showcases his slightly edgier and rockier vocals alongside a high-energy beat – something that isn’t common within usual electro-pop. ‘Leveling Up’ has a strong tempo and uplifting beat which, when paired with Billy’s distinct vocals, results in an impossibly catchy track that’ll leave you with the urge to dance every minute of the day!

The lyrics themselves talk of how things will always get better and there will always be something for you to strive towards in life – there will always be a way for you to level up and go even higher. The track radiates positivity both through its sound and its lyrics, sending an empowering message out to society that no matter what you’re going through, things will level up and improve, and you won’t be in this position forever. That message is important, especially in today’s day and age as the majority of the world is currently suffering through the pandemic, so people need to hear the inspiring message that ‘Leveling Up’ delivers – we won’t be in this situation forever, and sometime in the near future we will be leveling up into a more positive environment!

‘Leveling Up’ will be hitting streaming platforms on April 30th, so be sure to keep an eye out if you’re looking for an addictive track that’ll raise your mood and leave you wanting more, more, more! In the meantime if you’re looking for a taster of what’s to come, check out Billy’s track ‘The Tourist’, which tells a tale of a time where he felt like an alien within his own home after experiencing the time of his life in a completely different country. ‘The Tourist’, another track with an air of positivity, talks of how Billy felt true acceptance somewhere so far away from home – somewhere he discovered whilst being a tourist himself!

Jordan Dean in-tune with his influences in upcoming EP ‘Local’

Ohio-based Jordan Dean is set to release his upcoming indie-pop EP Local on March 12th, featuring lead tracks ‘Local’ and ‘Drunk’. Despite being born and raised in Cleveland, Jordan’s new tunes touch upon his primarily British influences, whilst they also master a sound that is so naturally Jordan Dean.

Local offers 5 songs that each have a slightly different premise, with each one honing back to Jordan’s musical inspirations. The eponymous track ‘Local’ and ‘Drunk’ show a resemblance to the likes of Jamie T, Arctic Monkeys, Viola Beach and The Kooks, embodying sounds that feel real and raw. Local is readily available for listeners looking to find new and upcoming indie artists that are breaking out into the music world in 2021!

Jordan has worked tirelessly over his EP, teaming up with his producer to piece together music that will draw in crowds at festivals and fill out venues:

I told my producer that I wanted to sound like a four-piece band that packed a 300-person venue and I feel like we accomplished that on the Local EP. We said it in the studio that this EP feels like a 30-minute set that you would see in a small venue, packed with people who really want to be there.”

This is definitely something I can agree with after listening through the 5 tracks, Jordan has created the type of music that would make you stop in your tracks at Leeds Festival and leave you eager to hear out the rest of his set.

While Local is more up-beat and excitable, Jordan has a range of different tempos throughout his EP, one of those being in ‘What I’m Feeling’, which is much slower than his previously released songs. ‘What I’m Feeling’ is the type of song you listen to while staring out the window, losing yourself in the lyrics and relating them to your own personal situations. This is another talent of Jordan’s, having written all of his songs himself to such a high standard.

He wrote these songs at an age as young as 18, which is impressive when he produces lyrics which resonate within you and bring you back to another time of your life, a time with less responsibility and worries.

Jordan has recently teased another song from Local – ‘Rabbit Hole’, which you can listen to here!

Original Article: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bon-jovi-concert-film-on-a-night-like-this-1094188/

Filmed in Nashville, the documentary will mark the first time the band performs their new album 2020 live. The preview below shows the band playing and Jon Bon Jovi getting tested for Covid-19 as the 2020 track “Limitless” plays in the background. The film will stream for free on their Facebook page at 6 p.m. ET.

Next month, Bon Jovi will join Maren Morris, Snoop Dogg, and others in the benefit concert Play On: Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Changeairing on December 5th. In October, they performed “Beautiful Drug” on Ellen.

“I don’t think anyone will forget what their lives were like between March and September of 2020,” Bon Jovi recently told Rolling Stone of their new album. I think this is the Spanish Flu all over again. But none of us, you and I or our parents, were alive 100 years ago. So this is that moment for us. This song won’t be about shoulder pads and having a hairstyle. This will mark a moment in time.”

Eddie Van Halen was diagnosed with brain tumour and stage four lung cancer, says son Wolfgang

As reported by NME, Eddie Van Halen‘s son Wolfgang has detailed his father’s battles with illness in the years leading up to his death last month.

Original Article: https://www.nme.com/news/music/eddie-van-halen-brain-tumour-lung-cancer-wolfgang-2818407

In a new interview on The Howard Stern Show, Van Halen revealed that towards the end of 2017, his father was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

“The doctors were like, ‘You have six weeks’,” he told Stern, adding that his father went to Germany to receive treatment.

“Whatever the fuck they do over there, it’s amazing, because I got three more years with him.”

Wolfgang goes on to say that things took a turn for the worse in early 2019, when his father got in a motorcycle accident. He was later diagnosed with a brain tumour, and received gamma knife radiosurgery to treat the illness.

“But as time went on, shit kept stacking up and stacking up. It just never let up.”

Wolfgang explained that his father’s worsening condition came amid plans for a Van Halen “classic line-up” reunion tour, which the band’s manager Irving Azoff discussed last month.

“That’s important, to let people know, that yeah, that was real, and we were so excited about it,” Van Halen told Stern. “It just didn’t pan out.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Wolfgang premiered his new song ‘Distance’, a tribute to his father, and discussed the close musical bond he and Van Halen shared.

“We had such a close connection and now, for the rest of my life, there’s no way I’ll never be able to think about him no matter what I do—which is good but also hurts a lot.”

Eddie Van Halen died early last month aged 65, following a long battle with throat cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes from around the rock world.

Earlier this month, SlashMetallica‘s Kirk Hammett and Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello honoured Van Halen at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

“Eddie Van Halen was the Mozart of our generation,” Morello said during the moving tribute. “He had the kind of talent that maybe comes around once a century.”

“He was there from the beginning, and he’s the guy that gave me a role in this band,” the guitarist said.Alice Cooper On Working With Paul McCartney On A Tribute Album To “Dead, Drunk Friends” John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix And MoreForthcoming Cooper album ‘Hollywood Vampires’ might just be one of the starriest of the decade, with Dave Grohl, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson and Paul McCartney among the guests. We heard from Alice about why working with Macca was a joy.

Frontman Brian Johnson said that he hopes the new record will inspire a whole new generation of AC/DC fans.

“Instead of looking at dancers on TikTok, I’m hoping this album will make young kids go out and buy a guitar, learn the riffs and discover the rest of our catalogue,” he said. “It would just be great to get more young rock bands out there, writing their own songs and getting up there on stage.”

Keith Richards on marking The Rolling Stones’ 60th anniversary: “The plans are to still actually all be alive”

As reported by NME, Keith Richards has spoken about The Rolling Stones’ upcoming 60th anniversary, saying that “the plans are to still actually all be alive” by the time the milestone comes around.

Original Article: https://www.nme.com/news/music/keith-richards-on-marking-the-rolling-stones-60th-anniversary-the-plans-are-to-still-actually-all-be-alive-2813256

The veteran band are set to celebrate 60 years together in 2022, having formed as The Rolling Stones in 1962.

Richards was asked in a new interview with GQ about whether the Stones had formulated any plans for their 60th anniversary yet, to which he replied: “Well, the plans are to still actually all be alive.”

“Apart from that, at our age, I don’t know. I haven’t heard of any plans, but I’m sure there are things being made,” the 76-year-old continued.

“First off, I’m going to get through this year and see how we handle next year. Because I think at the moment, there are more problems than a Rolling Stones celebration. Although I’m very glad that we’re all here, but I’ll leave it at that if I can.”

Richards further confirmed that the Stones have been working on a new album, which he says was “halfway in the works before [the] shit hit the fan” — a reference to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I was trying to progress a few things along, but there’s not a lot one can really do except wait for the vaccine,” the guitarist said.

Richards also reflected on his own mortality in the interview, saying that “every day is a pleasure”.

“I mean, I don’t wish to defy anybody’s predictions and I’m really not interested in them,” he added in reference to the interviewer’s observation that “people have been wondering in interviews when you’re going to die for the last 50 years”.

“But I’ll croak when I croak and everybody will know.”

Richards stated in another interview back in September that he “can’t imagine” The Rolling Stones ever retiring.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s credit cards “maxed out” by fraudster

As reported by NME, Sharon Osbourne has revealed that her and Ozzy Osbourne‘s credits were recently “maxed out” by a fraudster.

Original Article: https://www.nme.com/news/music/ozzy-and-sharon-osbournes-credit-cards-maxed-out-by-fraudster-2803305

Appearing on her U.S. chat show, The Talk, Sharon explained how she was first made aware of the crime when attempting to buy a birthday present for daughter Kelly.

“It’s my Kelly’s birthday today, I went out last night to pick up her gift,” Sharon explained.

“I give my credit card and they come back and say, ‘Do you have another credit card? It didn’t go through.’ I say, ‘Just try it again’… still didn’t go through…. I hand them Ozzy’s.”

She added: “Then, they come back and go, ‘Do you have another one? It didn’t go through.’ Someone rang up charges and maxed out Ozzy’s card and my card. I called through to the credit card company and they go, ‘No, no, no, you’re maxed out, so is Ozzy.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t go to that store, or to that store.’”

When asked if it was fraud, Sharon confirmed the crime, before adding that all of the fraudulent transactions on her card are currently being processed.

This comes after Ozzy recently announced details of his rescheduled farewell tour.

The gigs in question, which were originally announced back in September 2018, have already been postponed a number of times due to Osbourne’s ill health and, more recently, the coronavirus pandemic.

After his wife Sharon confirmed last week that the live dates — which had most recently been pencilled in for this month — would be moving to 2022, Osbourne himself has announced today (October 22) that the UK and European legs of the ‘No More Tours 2’ tour will now kick off in January 2022.

Jack White buys £3,000 guitar for busker after his instrument was smashed up on street

Jack White has bought a £3,600 guitar for a busker in Edinburgh after his own instrument was smashed up by a woman on the street.

The singer’s management contacted busker Matt Grant after hearing about the incident, which occurred on Edinburgh’s Princes Street on Tuesday (October 20).

The musician was busking in the Scottish capital when a 45-year-old woman began shouting in his face, before smashing his £300 acoustic guitar on the ground.

A GoFundMe page set up by Grant to buy a replacement guitar went on to raise a staggering £4,000 before White stepped in with the generous gesture.

White is said to have spotted Grant’s fundraising page and “felt bad” about the incident.

Recalling the moment he found out about White’s generosity, Grant said he had gone to Edinburgh’s Guitar Guitar to purchase a replacement instrument.

“It’s just amazing. I was in the guitar shop and the manager had been trying to get hold of me all day on the Go Fund Me page, but I had closed it as I already had more than enough donations in,” he told MailOnline.

“He said: ‘Jack saw what happened bud, and he wants to get you a guitar.’ I said I already had one now because I had been in and bought my new acoustic one and he said: ‘Keep that one and get another one. Jack really wants to help”.

He added: “I was like a kid in a sweetie shop, going around trying out all the guitars until I picked the one I wanted.”

Grant eventually picked a Fender Stratocaster, and said he plans to email White to say thank you after discovering that White does not have a phone.

Sharing a photo of his new guitar on Instagram, he wrote: “Absolute once in a million lifetimes thing happened today and I cannot thank Jack enough for his absolute generosity.

“Apparently he saw what happened and hit up his manager just this morning, who then amazingly tracked me down to the guitar shop just in time for me to walk out with this absolute beauty. Thanks Jack. I’d love to thank you personally one day, you’re a legend.”

A 45-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the original incident.

Paul McCartney drops major hints that ‘McCartney III’ is on the way

Paul McCartney has hinted that he is gearing up to release ‘McCartney III’, completing a trilogy of self-titled albums that he started recording before The Beatles split up.

Original Article: https://www.nme.com/news/music/paul-mccartney-drops-major-hints-that-mccartney-iii-is-on-the-way-2792214

The music icon released ‘McCartney’ in 1970 before following it a decade later with 1980’s ‘McCartney II’. Both albums were recorded at home and featured additional vocals from his late wife Linda.

McCartney fans have started to receive hints that a third release is on the way after a series of surprise animations began to appear on Spotify.

When users play songs from ‘McCartney’ and ‘McCartney II’ on the Spotify mobile app, they are greeted with an animation of a dice thrown onto the images of the album covers, with three dots facing upwards.

Over on Reddit, McCartney’s fans also claim to have received a bag printed with his name and containing three dice.

The singer’s social media accounts have now begun teasing the release too, sharing a series of images which were accompanied by three dice emojis.

While specific details on the release are yet to emerge, online zine GodIsInTheTV claims that McCartney recorded the album in lockdown, which would be in keeping with the DIY, homespun aesthetic he utilised on the previous two records.

Speaking to GQ earlier this year, McCartney also confirmed that he had been recording during lockdown.

“I’ve been able to write and get into music, starting songs, finishing songs. I’ve had a few little things to write and it’s given me the time to finish some songs that I hadn’t found the time to get around to,” he said.

It’s also claimed that the domain name mccartneyiii.com was registered in August by CSC Corporate Domains, the company that previously registered paulmccartney.com and flaming-pie.com (for the reissue of Paul’s 1997 album earlier this year).

When visiting the site, fans are met with a ‘303 error notice’ – a cryptic and rather telling spin on the usual 404 error.

As for a release date, it’s rumoured that the record will arrive on December 11. NME has contacted Paul McCartney’s representatives for comment.

If the reports are proven to be true, the release will be the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Egypt Station‘ – which marked McCartney’s 17th post-Beatles album,.

In a four-star review of the record, NME wrote: “McCartney’s always been about inclusivity and openness, but this latest glimpse into his life feels like a particularly enlightening one.”

Guitar God Tod Almond releases highly anticipated album ‘If Only You Could See’

The wait is finally over, Tod Almond’s much anticipated album ‘If Only You Could See’ was released just yesterday (October 2nd) and is now available for you to listen on Soundcloud and Spotify.

Sticking to the mantra of “do what makes you happy!”, Tod is doing just that by working as a guitar teacher by day and then showing his own skills onstage by night. He stuck to his word when leaving his band after several frustrating experiences, choosing instead to follow his own path as a solo artist and develop himself into a versatile one-man band.

‘If Only You Could See’ is a collection of tracks exploring Tod’s emotional journey through life and acts as a testament to his children, who he hopes to make proud.

“My children keep asking me, ‘When will you be on Spotify?’ I said, ‘It won’t be long’. They just want me to be something. I really want them to hear, see and feel my happiness”
