Known as the Djimba World Music Festival, the singer aka, the “Young Lioness of Africa” says: “I grew up in the region and it is very under represented. By starting the festival, I hope to shine a light on the music and art that exists in this part of Africa.  The north has a wealth of talent which is just not getting seen or heard. The festival is one of a number of steps I’m taking to encourage our musicians to showcase their talent to the world and to attract visitors to come and experience our unique way of life”

The effervescent singer, who will release her second album next year, added she was inspired to start the festival after performing at festivals in Europe including the world famous WOMAD Arts festival. “Glastonbury started with an audience of just 1500 people and I don’t see why we can’t manage at least that number and grow in years to come”

This year, Wiyaala will headline the maiden edition festival along with the Djimba World Band. Other acts appearing include, the traditional musician Stevo Atimbre in the style of the renowned King Ayisoba from the Upper East of Ghana. Reggie artist Jah Bone, local rap acts Samson B and Ghally are amongst the names also on the bill.

The festival takes place on the 23rd December at the Community Centre, Wa, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Tickets are GHS 10 (£2) VIP (£4).

Corinna Jane’s Rock-Infused ‘Three Faces of You’

Corinna Jane is making waves in the popular music scene with her unmistakably individual rock-pop style, which is best exhibited on her latest guitar driven single, ‘Three Faces of You’.

Having grown up in the MTV era of the 90s, Corinna has always been drawn to music and by the age of five she was already taking singing and piano lessons. It wasn’t long after that she began writing her own songs as a teenager and finding her own unique style as a musician.

‘Three Faces of You’ is a stormer of a track blending clever lyricism on Corinna’s part, along with an intriguing blend of violins and electric guitar. The track focuses on a former relationship with someone who seemed to live in their own fantasy world, with unpredictable tendencies. Consequently, Corinna’s track has a true, relatable meaning to it as well as features of quality musicianship and songwriting.

The keen actress, model and radio presenter has a quirky style and personality, which has led to her receiving airplay on the likes of BBC Radio 6, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing and making the top 5 solo artists at the Rock The House Competition.

Screams On Sunday explore today’s internet obsessed society in ‘The Night’

The alternative rock group that formed through the internet, Screams On Sunday (SOS), are set to release their single ‘The Night’ late January. The single blends guitar solos with rock rhythms, forming a unique raw sound. The Spanish female fronted band have based the track on the idea that today’s society are internet obsessed, lacking real life relations.

SOS met over the internet but soon became extremely close. Their close bond meant they could create music together with ease, soon releasing their debut EP ‘Call Reality A Lie’.

Listen to ‘Call Reality A Lie’ here:

‘The Night’ was recorded at Sound-Hub in Belper and mastered at Metropolis Studios in London. SOS find themselves improvising as it creates a more honest raw sound, meaning the production process perfects that improvised sound but still portraying what is inside.
