Stunning EP By Tall Poppies

Working with producer Brian O’Shaughnessy  (produced Primal Scream’s ‘Screamadellica’) as well as with Paul Tipler (Elastica, Idlewild, The Horrors, Stereolab), the ‘High Time’ EP is a technical triumph, finding Tall Poppies at the top of their game in the studio. Working with such high profile names has come as a result of a growing reputation, helped along by superb live notices in both the UK and Australia.

Having supported Mark Morrison from the Bluetones, other live highlights include a sell out launch show at Perth’s ‘His Majesty Theatre’, and a number of gigs in the UK such as 2000 Trees festival in Gloucester, Hay on Wye Festival and the Harlequin festival in Norwich.

Their live reputation has also seen them secure regular gigs for the manager of cult sensation Public Service Broadcasting, who books them for gigs at one of the hottest underground venues in London, Paperdress Vintage.

It’s all great news from a fiercely DIY band who are working hard to continue their creative innovations. With self-made music videos, photoshoot costumes and artwork, this is a four piece whose creativity reigns across the board.

‘High Time’ EP is out from Tall Poppies on August 24th.

Metasic – Rock Band

Written as a statement against the rising right wing politics in Britain, songwriter Joshua wanted to take a stand against the growing tensions between different social groups, races, religions and classes.

You can hear the single here:

No stranger to turning heads in the industry even at an early stage, Metasic are now hoping that their new single can help them capitalise on the attention they’re getting from within the business. Having supported The Hoosiers, the band were also handpicked by We Are Scientists to be included on a tribute album, covering their track ‘Call Backs’.

And, with radio support already coming from local stations, Metasic are looking to take it bigger with this epic new release. In it for the long haul, this is a band who know how hard it is to keep making progress, willing to – in their own words – ‘work our way up from the bottom to the top, no shortcuts, no dirty tricks’.

With more releases like ‘New Design’, no dirty tricks will be necessary.

The Floating Bridges – Tour Dates

They may live thousands of miles from Bob Marley’s native Jamaica, but The Floating Bridges have been inspired by the legendary reggae artist to make music, and, combining the recognisable rhythms with heavy guitar, they have made it their own. The band – who describe their reggae-infused rock as “Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Bob Marley” – have already been highlighted as one to watch, having been featured on Triple J Unearthed, the one-stop shop for finding the best new music from Down Under.

Now, the five-piece are making their way to this side of the world. Dale, Dan, Jimmy, Johnny and Cale say they have been “touring constantly” since the band formed in 2009, and, come July, they will be continuing their travels when they arrive on this side of the world. To coincide with the UK tour, The Floating Bridges are releasing their much anticipated LP ‘Creatures of Leisure’.

The album has been borne out of the band’s jammin’ sessions, and has been inspired by “good times” they have had together living on the Sunshine Coast. Lead single ‘Dreamcatcher’ allows the listener to get in to the same groove. The track features the traditional offbeat rhythms of reggae as well as the spiritual side of roots music, combined with Jimi Hendrix-style rock-n-roll guitar, which allows for an undeniably original yet authentic sound.

The Floating Bridges are touring the UK from 17th July  – not be to missed!

July 23rd – Secret Garden Party – Cambridgeshire

July 24th – The Farmers Arms – St. Merryn, Cornwall

July 25th – The Ohana Bar – Newquay, Cornwall

Yeti Love – Deep

Formed in 2012, the pair have established themselves not only as talented musicians but hard workers, consistently building a momentum and following over three years of hard graft and great music. It’s well known that a strong work-ethic in the modern industry is often as important as the quality of the songs ,and the fact that Yeti Love has both makes this year one full of potential for the pair.

You can enjoy it here:

Already busy putting together a tour to promote the album from the end of September, they are already in and out of the studio working on an new EP to follow it up. Already two steps ahead, all this comes at the same time as curating and organising their very own festival: The Airballoon Garden Party, 29-30th August at Rickman Hill Park.

The Violence Of Ice – Rhett May

Having spent a large part of his childhood in Calcutta, India, his guitar led songs are infused with the sounds of the Indian streets, giving his music a different flavour to the majority of current, cookie cutter rock music. Driving pop track set for end of July release

Getting ready for the release of her very first single with upcoming track ‘My Music’, Olivia Shafique is an artist with all the tools to make a big mark on the music industry. With a fantastic voice and a look to match, she has been working hard to hone her pop writing skills and the results are obvious.

It’s all very impressive for a first release, and fitting that the song itself is all about being positive, picking yourself up and starting again when things go wrong.

Watch the video here:

She’s already been asked to go on reality shows like ‘Life on Marbs’, which will be shown on ITVBe. In the same way as The Only Way Is Essex, it would be following her life and her singing career.

OLIVIA MY MUSIC COVER 1450pix

Outside of music, Olivia is a self-confessed adrenaline junkie, prone to jumping out of planes, off bungee platforms and off cliffs. It’s just as well, as on this evidence she’ll be scaling great heights in the industry very soon.

Twin tracks set to be unleashed from a galaxy far far away on September 14th

Already making a splash with local papers and radio – including BBC Introducing – in Oxfordshire, the stage is now set for the band to break out into the wider UK consciousness.

Capture

The single shows us that this is a band with real momentum and panache, and a real love for simply making their music and making it loud. Their support slot for Alabama 3 was amongst their highlights to date because it was part of Brixton jam “and was absolutely packed – a really dark venue great for loud rock music”.

Sneak Peak Of Brand New Single ‘Ugly Baby’:

So, having almost sneaked onto the soundtrack for the biggest film release of 2015, things are looking good for SinFiction. And with their previous album already rocking around the solar system. The band sent their last album to space! –

Lola Lamour – Brand New Track!

Lola Lamour

Lola Lamour

Lola Lamour has built up a dedicated following touring vintage events and festivals around the country with her band, and regularly features in the national press. Her latest hit, ‘Slow Motion Love Affair’, was released to acclaim in March, and now she is about to take her success even further.

Lola has a sophisticated sound that transports the listener back to the big band days, not least when she gets up on stage with her thirteen-piece band, performing swing, soul, rockabilly, blues and more.

Watch  Lola’s ‘Are You Looking for Love?’ here:

Lola – described by The Stage as an artist who “perfectly captures the glamour of the 1950s” – has a distinctive style which, with this latest release, is taken to another level. The track already sounds like a classic, and is sure to get your hips swinging.

Brand New EP ‘Movements’ Ready For Release

The Lightness of Being aren’t your average rock band – guitarist Sam has played in a salsa group, while drummer Sergio is also a minimal DJ. It’s not only their musical backgrounds that are diverse; singer Gabriel is originally from Singapore, Sam has lived in Japan and the US and Sergio is from Poland.

Listen to ‘Unknown’ here:

The band came together after Gabriel and Sergio struck up a chance conversation – and despite coming from all walks of life they soon began rehearsing and playing shows in London.

movements

The debut EP “Directions” got heads banging last year, and the amp has been turned up even higher for their three-track release ‘Movements’.

The foursome have used as inspiration their “everyday struggles and fears”, as heard in the dark opening track ‘Disappearing Act’, while the distorted vocals and heavy guitar bring the genres of rock, metal and grunge together in ‘Unknown’ and ‘Cat’s Eyes’. If you’re a fan of Queens of the Stone Age or Sonic Youth, you will want to give The Lightness of Being a listen.

The Lightness of Being have already been backed by big names in the music industry – they have worked with The Breeders’ engineer Nick Trepka, played with up-and-coming blues rock band Graveltones, and have headlined venues around London. And with the release of ‘Movements’ they’re bound to turn even more heads in 2015.

‘Movements’ EP is due to be released on September 7th.

Jazz Musician With Brand New Album Release – Encemble

In a change from his normal writing technique, Neil C. Young built this album around melodies to create the harmony, in turn creating layers for the unconventional line-up of a baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, trumpets, and two drum kits. The results are outstanding – a shining example of the much maligned jazz genre on crowd pleasing form.

Capture

It’s easy to see from his social feeds that Neil C. Young is unaffected by the growing hype surrounding his music. Witty and down to earth, he often pokes fun at himself and clearly enjoys simply making music. He is also fully aware of the raised eyebrows caused by his name – shared with one of the best loved songwriters in the world over the last five decades. The similarity has led to crossed wires on many occasions; in one case of mistaken identity, a festival promoter looking to book Neil C. Young received an e-mail from the agent of the other Neil Young, who claimed the jazz musician was an imposter.

So, just to make it clear – Neil C. Young, jazz musician, is ready for the September 7th release of his excellent new album ‘Encemble’.
