The music has been described a “metal opera” but in some ways it is unlike anything heard before. It is both educational and sonically pleasurable, combining multiple genres and a story telling aesthetic to create something truly original.
The Shackleton Experience is almost revolutionary in its scope. By carving out a genre of its own, The Shackleton Experience is set to take the world by storm.
Listen to “Into the Weddell Sea’ here:
Expect the full length release on August 8th the 101st anniversary of Shackleton leaving England.
Musical icon of The Only Ones returns with a powerful follow up to his first single “Four Winds”. Written, sung and produced by Mair ‘Stairway to Hell’ is an accumulation of his experiences and knowledge and it is a fantastic release. Having played countless festivals such as Glastonbury and O2 Wireless festival and literally thousands of concerts Alan has been able to hone both his live stage work and his studio skills for this release. The track combines a driving bass, soaring guitars, thundering drums courtesy of Zal Cleminson and Ted McKenna of Alex Harvey Band fame, and a dynamic vocal from Alan. Sonically and lyrically the track is a pure adrenaline rush.
Having been supported by the likes of U2, Simple Minds and supported The Who, The White Stripes and Primal Scream it is obvious Alan Mair is a force to be reckoned with. His involvement with Scottish band The Beatstalkers was instrumental in their ascension to being Scotland’s first ever pop stars. Thankfully Alan has now finally released his own music.
They say practice makes perfect and this is most definitely the case with Croydon’s latest jangly, blues-fuelled rock offering, Coffeepot Drive. Subtly combining the hook laden guitar of Alabama Shakes with a huge vocal presence reminiscent of The Supremes, Coffee Pot Drive is a band that cannot be missed.
“It’s been 13 years since COAL CHAMBER put out a record. We all worked so hard on this music to make sure the whole album was a stellar push forward for the band and not some nostalgia trip! If you like it heavy and unique you’ll love Rivals! This record is full of crushing huge hooks and big down tuned riffs to move ya! Support Heavy music in all its forms!” –Dez Fafara.
“Some of these riffs remind me of the early years of a band who helped me through my teenage angst, Minneapolis emo-rockers Motion City Soundtrack. Songs that are mostly about regret and fucking up should shred the way this one does, providing momentary relief from remorse.” –Stereogum

With ‘Lose Yourself’, Shannon K continues to mark herself out as one of the most versatile young artists on the independent scene today. Previous singles such as anti-drugs tune ‘Just Say No’ and the festive track ‘Christmas Song’ first marked her out as a talented vocalist, but with this year’s quick punch of ‘Just Another Boy’, ‘MOM’ (released on Mother’s Day, lyrics by Brian Bogdanovic) which is an emotional track that really showcases Shannon’s vocal ability, and now ‘Lose Control’, she is showing herself to be a real contender.
A prolific teen sensation ready for her fifth single release in less than a year, Shannon K is a pop vocalist whose star is shooting quickly upwards. Having found her perfect pure pop sound with March single ‘Just Another Boy’, she is now ready to further develop her new approach with brand new single ‘Lose Control’. You might even notice her shorter hair this time round, as she’s just cut her hair for the cancer charity, the Little Princess Trust.
Composed by Matt Knight and Andy Whitmore, with lyrics from the excellent Rosie Penn, the single is a feel-good treat, capturing the spirit and freedom of the upcoming summer months. It’s the first time Shannon has released a single with such pure, summer vibes, and the infectious melodies and great production very much get you in the mood for the sunshine:
