Italian rockers Noel and the Pandas set to release debut album ‘In The Art Of Doom’

noel and pandas pink sky

Noel and the Pandas are the hottest new alternative rock sound to emerge from Italy. With a soft rock sound and sensitive lyrics, the guys add a hearty Italian twist to rock.

The band is led by front man Noel, who is the ultimate Italian Jack of all trades that has finally found his calling in the world of alternative rock music.

Noel’s journey into music has been an unusual route, to say the least. Having lent his hand to many trades, Noel’s career is a fascinating and chaotic tale; beginning his career as a lawyer, Noel went on to have a long career in the banking industry. One day Noel’s career as a banker came to a crashing end over night as he lost everything in the blink of an eye when the bank he worked for was drawn into an Italian banking scandal, which even saw his father unjustly imprisoned for a brief period. Following this tragedy Noel was left recovering metal scraps from the streets and was even worked as a fisherman in West Africa for a short while, as he struggled to make ends meet.

With nothing left to his name, Noel turned to music to overcome his troubles. After mastering the guitar Noel soon realised his real passion lied in making music and began to express his troubles through his lyrics. Whilst learning how to harness his new found talent Noel began the quest for band mates to help complete his new musical venture.

Nicola Rosti, the bands lead guitarist, was the first recruit. Having been Noel’s guitar teacher for some time, the pair had a natural musical chemistry that morphed into band mate material with ease. The talented Rosti has a long and illustrious career in the music industry; having been involved with numerous bands Rosti brings technical brilliance to the ensemble and is responsible for the production of the album. Dominic Sambucco, on rhythm guitar, was the next to join. A Canadian citizen living in Italy, Sambucco’s strumming talent completed the guitar sounds of the band. Well versed in the art of alternative rock, Filippo Parmeggiani joined the band to play drums. Finally, the band was completed by the arrival of Matt Straveden. With a history as a classic pianist, Straveden is the bands keys player.

The band has an alternative rock sound, with a soft undertone that subtly embraces the best of rock. ‘In The Art Of Doom’ is the debut album from the band and showcases the rockin’ talents of the five guys. A number of tracks on the album explore the heart ache Noel has suffered over recent years and draws the listener into his complex world through his heartfelt lyrics.

Vagabond Flag Releases 2nd Single; ‘Those Old Days’

PRimage

It has taken Vagabond Flag many years to hone his talents and perfect his song-writing craft. However, after the success of his most recent single ‘Not Afraid’, he is due to release the second, ‘Those Old Days’ on December 15th.

Listen here:

The song addresses taking a retrospective look on your life – the benefits of being older and confident, whilst also growing more and more cynical. It speaks of the excitement and innocence of youth before it fades, and pleads with the listener not to forget the beauty of impeccability and naivety that we are all blessed with when we are young. The track has been perfectly mastered, with soaring guitar riffs and laid back vocals that possess a reminiscent quality of 90’s British rock music. The entire album has been thoughtfully written – the music and the lyrics expressing a dark and melancholy vibe which epitomises his views on life, relationships and resolving pain and loss. Even the name ‘Vagabond Flag’ has been carefully chosen for a reason – it is a direct quote from the Shakespeare play ‘Anthony and Cleopatra’, in which Octavius Caeser criticises the fickleness and shallowness of the populace. Vagabond Flag’s choice to make it his artists name represents his realistic appraisal, and ultimately, suspicion of fame.

‘Those Old Days’ is due for release on December 15th, with the album being released on the 12th January.

Alongside the music, James is a psychotherapist, working with Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. His interest in psychology is often apparent in The zzips songs, consistently raising the question ‘Why?’

She’s already attracted the attention of some of the top people in the music industry, like the Super Stylers who remixed her previous single, and has made a big name for herself on both her local London scene, and national media.

Drawing on the chilled out RnB influences from her childhood, Scarlet and her co-writers Dominic Ireland, John McLaughlin, Judd Mahoney & Natalie DeLucia have written an amorous track, about being ‘Stuck’ in love with someone who you don’t necessarily want to be with. All the songs are instantly relatable and likable, with aspects of Britpop with a prurient undertone.

“There’s a new girl in town and she’s slowly making her way around the room with introductions, probably with a guitarist beside her.” - Maximum Pop

Ed Prosek Reveals Video To New Single ‘Hold On Tight’

Californian singer-songwriter Ed Prosek is an artist of striking talent. His intimate vocals and songs of honesty, introspection and worldly observation set him apart from other young songwriters, combining a musical beauty and individual sense of arrangement with powerful and emotive lyricism to create music that is truly undeniable in every sense of the word.

The son of an opera composer, Ed Prosek’s journey to becoming a folk-pop songwriter is one firmly routed in the classical world. A former student of the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Ed left his native California for the south coast of England in 2011, emerging to critical acclaim in 2012 with his debut EP, ‘California’, a demonstration of Ed’s prowess as not only a conventional songwriter but as an arranger and band leader that belie his youth. Immediately gaining a strong online presence, Ed’s cover of Paul Simon’s ‘Homeward Bound’ was the soundtrack to Cathedral City’s major TV advertising campaign, bringing Ed and his music to the national audience in a direct fashion.  A subsequent self-released EP and continuous live presence in Brighton and London as well as tours to Germany and the West Coast of America have seen Ed’s fanbase and online presence grow quickly, grabbing the attention of world famous producer, Rupert Hine, who subsequently signed him as a songwriter to BMG Chrysalis/Auditorius in early 2014.

The search for a ‘home’ is an ever present theme in Ed’s music, often reflecting on his father’s experience of fleeing his home in Czechoslovakia during the Soviet Union and traveling the world as a refugee in the early 80’s. In Brighton, however, Ed seems to have finally set down roots, and with his band (ranging from an eight piece ensemble, including string quartet, down to solo), and his closely knit team, he is poised to have a big impact on the UK’s music scene in the coming months and years.

Ed’s new single ‘Hold On Tight’ reflects upon his journey both as a musician and young man, the struggle to survive and the people who come together to make such things possible. The song is an energy driven folk pop ballad, with an infectiously catchy hook and chorus, showcasing the best of Ed’s song-writing and voice. The single precedes the forthcoming ‘Riverbed’ EP due in mid November with tour dates across the UK to support the release.

Super Talented Teen Shane Thomas Due to Release New Single Mrs Matisse 10th December

SHANE THOMAS01

Okay so this little talent isn’t strictly relevant to guitars, but we’re just too impressed with the guy to miss the opportunity to shout about him!

Formerly dubbed ‘Britain’s Mozart’, Shane Thomas is quite possibly the most talented teenager across the British music industry.

New single, ‘Mrs Matisee’ is to be released 10th December, prior to the release of his debut album, ‘From Me To You’, due for release soon after.

‘Mrs Matisee’ showcases Shane’s incredible talent and beautifully demonstrates the amazing capabilities of this young composer. The tack in undeniably stunning and transpires audiences into the fascinating world of Shane Thomas.

Shane was inspired to write the track earlier this year when he saw a painting by Henri Matisse. He was so taken with the beauty of the painting that he decided to compose a piece of music about it. Shortly after writing the track Shane discovered that Debussy had been inspired by the very same painting and produced a well known piece of music called, Arabesque.

Shane began playing the piano at the tender age of seven and has since taken on the challenge of mastering the art of the cello and percussion.  Shane dreams up all of his music. He has never sat at a piano to compose anything. He does it all in his head, then later sits to play the piece. He can immediately play any melody or song he hears.

Aged ten, Shane was the youngest person in history to be signed to a music publisher, E.M.I. music.

Bristol Folk band ‘Apple of My Eye’ are set to sail folk scene with new album ‘Seven Tides’

P1030725 edited

Soo maybe not heavy on the guitar, but we still absolutely love these guys!

Contemporary folk band, ‘Apple Of My Eye’ announce release of new album ‘Seven Tides’, due out 1st December.  Beautifully arranged epic songs in a unique twist on classic folk themes.

Now living in London, the majority of the band hail from the historic maritime city of Bristol and their songs draw inspiration from both cities and from the sea, a theme that runs throughout their second album. Their engaging storytelling style and four part harmonies explore tales of love, loss, adventure and ruin.

The album was recorded at Cowshed Studios and engineered by the hugely respected folk and jazz engineer Joe Leach. They decided to record the entire thing on 2 inch, 24 track analogue recording tape to give a warmer and richer sound than digital techniques.

Having spent the summer performing at some of the most exciting festivals in the UK, including, Tall Ships Festival Greenwich, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness and headlining Exile festival in Sheffield, the band are flourishing into an exciting folk force, not to be missed.

The band describe their music as “brand new old songs” and collectively generate all their own material drawing on personal experiences and carefully arranging the music on the guitar, bouzouki, violin, double bass, mandolin and harmonica.

Band member Chris Rusbridge lives on a narrow boat on the waterways of London, where often a rehearsal will turn in to a performance as passers by become a listening crowd. No London public house is safe from the spontaneous band. They are well known for bursting into song and entertaining the drinkers of London pubs.

Catch the guys live in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsyM68eQux4

The band boasts an impressive hoard of musical talent:

Kit Massey (Violin) and Phil Cornwell (Bass) are both full time professional musicians. Cornwell is the musical director of West End musical “The Scotsboro Boys’’ and Massey  was formally a violinist with the Santiago Philamonia in Chile and has worked as a session musician with artists such as Emile Sande, Dizzie Rascal, Muse and Jamie Cullum. Arran Glass (Vocals and Guitar) and Alex Scott (Mandolin) are both professional Actor-Musicians and Puppeteers who perform and compose the music for a variety of theatre and television. Chris (Bouzouki), Dan (Harmonica) and Ellie Rusbridge (Vocals) are all siblings and come from a rich folk music heritage as their parents met in a folk club and still perform in their own folk band Thornbridge.
